How Far Will My Insurance Take Me?

Unless you’ve been through it before, you might not know how the insurance process works if you have chipped, cracked or shattered vehicle glass.  Don’t worry, Defender Auto Glass works closely with insurance companies every day, so we know exactly what needs to be done to resolve your situation.  Here are some answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.


Does my insurance even cover a cracked or broken windshield?

If you have comprehensive coverage, broken windshields are usually covered.  You might want to consult with your insurance company or review your policy to double check.


Will I have to pay money out of pocket for the repair?

If there is a deductible, you will be responsible for that amount first, and then your insurance company should handle the rest.


How do they determine whether I have to get a repair or a total glass replacement?

We will make the recommendation, largely based on the size of the damage.  If it is smaller than a quarter, then we will probably be recommending a repair.  If it is larger than that, it is probably a safe bet that a repair won’t do the trick, and a total replacement could be necessary.


How do I know that my insurance company will work with you?
